Was a major military campaign launched by the Iraqi Government forces with allied militias, the Kurdistan Regional Government, and international forces to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State (ISIL), during the War in Iraq (2013-2017).

  • June 2016: The Iraqi Army captured Hajj Ali along with the villages of Khirab Jabri and Kaproki.
  • August 2016: Iraqi forces in collaboration with Kurdish forces captured four villages which were Tal Hamid, Qarqasha, Abzakh and Qura Takh located near Mosul.
  • October 2016: Iraqi Army regained full control of the city of Shirqat.
  • October 2016: ISIL re-entered Shirqat after assaulting it from two axes. The group recaptured the mayor's office, the center of the district and the entertainment city area.
  • July 2016: The Iraqi Army recaptured Qayyarah Airfield West in Nineveh province from ISIL.
  • July 2017: Battle of Mosul (2016-17).
  • September 2016: Shirqat was fully captured by pro-government forces.
