Was one of the Pyu city-states that existed from about the 2nd century BCE to the mid-11th century in present-day Upper Burma (Myanmar) and were founded by the Tibeto-Burman-speaking Pyu people.

  • January 179 BC: Establishment of the city-state of Beikthano. The walls of the city were 6 metres thick, and are radiocarbon dated to a period between 180 BC and 610 AD.
