Establishment


  • January 1751: Djermakoy Aboubacar, a member of the Taguru clan, established the Dosso state in 1750 in the Dallol Bosso valley. The territory remained a small collection of villages until the 1820s when it began to expand under his leadership.

  • January 1850: Dosso fell under the control of the Amir of Gando (a subdivision of Sokoto) in 1849.

  • January 1857: From 1857 the Kingdom of Dosso was independent from the Sokoto Caliphate.

  • February 1895: Local Gurma ruler accept French protection.

  • Disestablishment


  • January 1899: Zarmakoy Attikou (r.1897-1902) took the military help offered by the French forces based in Karimama, but found that after the military conquest of his enemies in 1898, the French forces remained stationed in Dosso.
