Was a precolonial kingdom on the Atlantic coast of central Africa, spanning on territories of Angola, Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of the Congo. It originated from the union of several local kingdoms, in particular the Kingdoms of Mpemba Kasi and of Mbata. From 1857 to 1914 it was a vassal state of the Kingdom of Portugal, until being absorbed into the Colony of Angola.
