Was created during a Cossack rebellion that took place between 1648 and 1657 in the eastern territories of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It entered into a vassal relation with Russia in 1654 with the treaty of Pereyaslav. It was finally incorporated by Russia in 1764.
