  • January 499 BC: By the time of Siddharta's birth, the Shakya republic had become a vassal state of the larger Kingdom of Kosala.

  • January 491 BC: The ruler of Magadha, Bimbisara of the Haryanka dynasty, greatly expanded the Kingdom during his reign from 544 BC to 492 BC.

  • Disestablishment


  • January 449 BC: The Kosala kingdom was defeated by Ajatashatru (5th or early 4th cent. BC) of the Magadhan Haryanka dynasty, and absorbed into the Magadha kingdom, which formed the basis of the Mauryan empire.
