Was a medieval Harari imamate in present-day eastern Ethiopia with its capital in Asaita.

Establishment


  • January 1596: Harar was ultimately a short lived state, lasting only 18 years (though if you start from the reign of Imām Aḥmed Gurēy, a more respectable 51 years). The capital was moved east to the oasis of Aussa by Imām Maḥamed "Jāsa" Ibrahim who founded the Imamate of Awsa.

  • January 1648: In 1647, the rulers of the Emirate of Harar, led by Imam Ali ibn Daud, broke away from the Adal Sultanate to form their own independent polity.

  • Disestablishment


  • January 1735: In 1734, the Afar leader Data Kadafo, head of the Mudayto clan, seized power and established the Mudayto Dynasty. This marked the start of a new and more sophisticated polity.
