  • January 1096: In 1095, the castrum Haigerloch, a castle complex in the upper town of Haigerloch on the left bank of the Eyach, which was the seat of the counts of Haigerloch, is mentioned for the first time.

  • January 1201: Around 1200, the Counts of Hohenberg appeared as local lords and built a new castle on the Schlossberg, around which the lower town developed as a market town. […] When these counts died out (after 1162), the counts of Hohenberg took over Haigerloch.
