Was a duchy (de facto a composite state), of the Holy Roman Empire located in area between modern-day Germany and Netherlands. It originated from the union of Jülich and Berg.

Establishment

January 1424: In 1423, the territory of Jülich was united with Berg establishing the Duchy of Jülich-Berg.

1. Burgundian Wars

Was a conflict between the Burgundian State and the Old Swiss Confederacy and its allies.

June 1474: The Burgundian army starts the siege of Neuss.

July 1474: End of the Burgundian siege of Neuss.

January 1438: The Berg Duchy is acquired by the Duchy of Jülich-Berg.

January 1453: In 1452 half of Remagen was pledged to the Archbishop of Cologne by Duke Gerhard von Jülich-Berg.

January 1473: In 1472 the rule of Heinsberg came to the Duchy of Jülich-Berg.

Disestablishment

January 1522: In 1521, the territory of Jülich united with Berg, Cleves, and Mark under the rule of John III, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg.
