The sultanate of Malwa was founded by Dilawar Khan Ghuri, the governor of Malwa for the Delhi Sultanate, who asserted his independence in 1392, but did not actually assume the ensigns of royalty till 1401.

January 1563: Constitution of the Malwa Sultanate.
January 1426: The state was founded in 1425 by Rana Kumbha of Mewar as Kanthal State. It was later renamed after its capital located in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan.
January 1438: The early history of the state is not very clear, the founder of the state was either Anand Deo or Ude Deo. The state got its name from the fort of Ali and the capital of Rajpur. The rulers of Alirajpur claim to be Rathore's from the royal family of Jodhpur, however this claim is not accepted by the Maharaja's of Jodhpur.
January 1449: There was a predecessor state known as Umatwara, whose chief received the princely title of Rawat (equivalent to Raja) in 1448.
January 1451: The Jobat State was founded in the 15th century of the Alirajpur State ruling family belonging to the Rathore dynasty of Rajputs.
January 1519: Borders of the Ahmadnagar Sultanate by 1518.
January 1525: The state of Baria was founded around 1524.
April 1526: Babur's forces occupied Delhi and much of northern India after his victory at Panipat in 1526.
January 1528: Banswara State was founded in 1527 by Maharawal Jagmal Singh. It was a princely state in present-day Rajasthan, India. The territory was established after the decline of the Mewar Kingdom, with Banswara becoming the capital.
January 1536: Mughal padshah (emperor) Humayun, son of Babur, captured the Malwa Sultanate in 1535 for a short period of time before it was eventually incorporated into the expanding Mughal Empire.
January 1537: Mughal padshah (emperor) Humayun, son of Babur, captured the Malwa Sultanate in 1535-36. The Malwa Sultanate was ruled by Baz Bahadur at the time, who was defeated by Humayun during his campaign to expand the Mughal Empire in India.
January 1543: Sher Shah Suri conquered the kingdom, appointing Shuja'at Khan as the governor.
January 1556: Independence of Malwa Sultanate.
