January 1348: The powerful Dughlats enthroned a son of Esen Buqa I, Tughlugh Timur as khan of Moghulistan in 1347.

Military campaigns of Timur (or Tamerlane), a Turco-Mongol conqueror who founded the Timurid Empire in and around modern-day Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia.
January 1364: Following his death in 1363, Timur and Amir Husayn took over Transoxiana.
January 1371: After capturing the city, Timur executed Khabul Shah, the Husayn's puppet Khan of Western Chagatai and installed Suurgatmish on the throne of Khan as his puppet. This made Timur the main power in Mawarannahr and Western Chagatai Khanate.
January 1371: The two main parts of the Chagatai Khanate were defeated by Timur (Tamerlane) (1336-1405), who founded the Timurid Empire.

January 1351: In 1350, Moghulistan ruler Tughlugh invaded Transoxania and conquered it.
January 1369: The Dughlat Qamar-ud-din Khan Dughlat rebelled and killed Ilyas Khoja of Moghulistan in 1368, taking the throne for himself. Ilyas Khoja's brother Khizr Khoja fled to Turpan where he set up his own independent realm.
January 1371: Yingchang was seized by the Ming shortly after the death of Northern Yuan ruler Toghon Temür (r. 1333-1370).
January 1381: By the 1370s the Kingdom of Qocho ceased to exist.
January 1390: The territory founded by the Yuan prince Gunashiri, a descendant of Chagatai Khan, in 1389 was Kara Del. It was ruled by the Chagatayids, a branch of the Mongol Empire, after its establishment.
January 1391: Khizr Khoja assumed power in Moghulistan.

January 1481: In 1480, Yunus, a prominent figure in Moghulistan, captured Hami from Kara Del, a tributary of the Ming dynasty. A Ming army attempted to expel the Moghuls from the city but was unsuccessful in capturing them.

January 1487: When Yunus died in 1486, his realm was divided between the Yarkent Khanate, ruled by Mahmud Khan in the west, and the Turpan Khanate, ruled by Ahmad Alaq in the northeast.
