Was an Albanian noble family which ruled the region between Pogradec, Ohrid and Debar in the period 12th-14th century.

Establishment

January 1372: The region between Pogradec, Ohrid, and Debar became semi-independent as the Principality of Gropaj.

2. Conquests of Murad I

Expansion during the rule of Murad I in the Ottoman Beylik.

January 1374: Murad completed his triumph on the banks of the Maritza by launching a well-organized campaign to extend his rule over the remaining Balkan territories, south of the Danube. The left wing of the Ottoman expansion under Evrenos Bey crossed the Rhodope Mountains and seized almost all of Macedonia, a conquest that culminated in the capture of Serres in 1373 .

Expansion during the rule of Bayezid I in the Ottoman Sultanate.

January 1396: The Gropaj noble family ruled until 1395 when it fell under the rapid expansion of the Ottoman Empire.

January 1390: The Principality of Kastrioti was founded by the Albanian nobleman Gjon Kastrioti I in 1389. This territory was gained after the Battle of Kosovo, where Kastrioti fought alongside the Ottoman Empire against the Serbian forces.
