Is a country that comprises the northeastern portion of the island of Cyprus, recognized only by Turkey. It was created after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. It took its current donomination in 1983.

November 1983: The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is equally only recognized by the Republic of Turkey.

1. Turkish invasion of Cyprus

Was the Turkish invasion of Cyprus that resulted in the formation of the Autonomous Turkish Cypriot Administration in the northern portion of the island. The invasion immediate cuase was the Greek junta-sponsored Cypriot coup d'état that happened in a period of intercommunal violence between Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
