Establishment
January 1551: The chiefdom of Uukwanyama is traditionally considered to have been established in 1550. It was located in the Kwanayama region between Angola and Namibia

1. Events
January 1651: Nembulung lyNgwendha was the first leader of Ondonga chiefdom in the region of Ondangwa and Onombango from 1650 to 1690.
January 1701: Establishment of Uukwambi in Namibia.
October 1885: In 1885, William Worthington Jordan bought a tract (fifty thousand square kilometers) of land from the Ovambo chief Kambonde for three hundred pounds. Here he established the Republic of Upingtonia on 20 October 1885.
Disestablishment
January 1896: Uukwanyama became a German protectorate integrated in German South West Africa (modern-day Namibia).
