The Zamorin of Eranad controlled large parts of Cochin (western India) from the XII century.
Establishment
January 1151: Calicut (Polathiri kingdom) was conquered by Zamorin of Eranad, who then conquered large parts of Cochin Kingdom, and began trying to assert suzerainty over Cochin.

1. Events
January 1434: The cessation of the Ming treasure voyages, led by Chinese explorer Zheng He, had negative consequences for the Kingdom of Cochin in 1433. The Zamorin of Calicut, a powerful ruler in the region, took advantage of the weakened state of Cochin and launched an invasion against the kingdom.
January 1501: Meenachil Karthas ruled the small kingdom of Meenachil from 15th century AD.
January 1501: In the late 15th century, the Zamorin of Eranad occupied Cochin and installed his representative as the king.
January 1524: Fort Cranganore was constructed in Kodungallur by Portuguese in 1523.
January 1527: In 1526, the Portuguese under the viceroyship of Lopo Vaz de Sampaio took possession of Mangalore, a port city in India. This marked the beginning of Portuguese control over the region as part of Portuguese India.
January 1566: The kings who followed ruled as vassals of the Vijayanagara empire until the decline of the latter in 1565. By this time, the kingdom had expanded to thirty-three villages protected by a force of 300 soldiers. King Timmaraja II conquered some surrounding chiefdoms.
January 1601: Foundation of the Haleri Kingdom.
January 1662: In 1661, Fort Pallipuram was integrated into Dutch Malabar. The fort was originally built by the Portuguese in the early 16th century and was an important strategic location in the region.
January 1663: Purakkad acquired by the Dutch.
January 1664: Portuguese alliance was followed by that of the Dutch, who had by then conquered Quilon after various encounters with the Portuguese and their allies. Discontented members of the Cochin Royal family called on the assistance of the Dutch for help in overthrowing the Cochin Raja.
January 1701: During the reign of Chikka Devaraja (r. 1672-1704), the Kingdom of Mysore grew to include Salem and Bangalore to the east, Hassan to the west, Chikkamagaluru and Tumkur to the north and the rest of Coimbatore to the south.
January 1754: In 1753, the tributary states of Kochi collectively known as Karappuram and Alangad were ceded to Travancore.
January 1754: Ambalapuzha, Kottayam and Changanassery were also annexed to Travancore by 1753.
January 1759: The maximum extent of the Kingdom of Travancore was reached at the end of Marthanda Varma's reign.
Disestablishment
January 1764: By 1763, Haider Ali had captured the Keladi kingdom, defeated the rulers of Bilgi, Bednur and Gutti, invaded the Malabar in the south and conquered the Zamorin's capital Calicut.
