Peter II was the King of the Kingdom of Aragon from 1196 to 1213. During his reign, he faced several significant conflicts, including the Albigensian Crusade (1209-1229) and the War of Las Navas de Tolosa (1212). The Albigensian Crusade, led by the Catholic Church against the Cathars, began before Peter II's reign but continued throughout his rule. The War of Las Navas de Tolosa, fought against the Almohad Caliphate, took place in 1212, overlapping with Peter II's reign. Despite his efforts, Peter II tragically lost his life in the Battle of Muret in 1213, marking the end of his rule.

This Time Series shows the evolution of the polity area per year during the tenure of the selected ruler. The metric always uses January 1st of each year for the calculation of the population.
Polities are the smallest unit in the Phersu Atlas model. They represent political entities that control a territory, regardless of their form. Polities can be either independent or dependent.
Rulers are considered only when they can be clearly defined. Phersu Atlas includes de facto rulers, which may sometimes be subjective. As a result, the ruler could be a King, President, or others depending on the context.
You can apply a filter (from a specific year to another) to narrow the time range. Clicking on a point in the graph will provide further information.
