Is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Morocco was colonized by France and Spain in the early XX century and gained independence from both in 1956. Morocco also controls most of the former Colony of Spanish Sahara, which is considered a disputed territory. Practically, most of the region is controlled by Morocco, whereas the internal region of Western Sahara is controlled by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
