Is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest European country after Russia. Ukraine emerged as independent country two times in the past: in the XVII century (Hetmanate) and during the Russian Civil War. Ukraine gained its independence in 1991, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Since 2014 Ukraine has slowly lost parts of its eastern territoires to Russia due to the Russo-Ukrainian War.
