  • September 1719: In 1719, Tsar Peter of Russia, through Grand Admiral Apraxin, ordered the burning of the coast of West Bothnia in Sweden as part of a military occupation. This action was part of the Great Northern War, a conflict between Russia and Sweden for control of the Baltic region.
