  • January 594: Agilulfo himself proceeded to reconquer Parma and Piacenza and arrived, in 593, to threaten Rome itself. Pope Gregory I, to avoid the sack of the city, in 593, had to pay Agilulf, king of the Lombards and head of the Christian-Aryan Church, 500 pounds of gold.
