  • March 2015: Between 1 and 6 March the Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG) and Free Syrian Army (FSA), supported by airstrikes, besieged ISIL militants at the French-owned Lafarge Cement Plant and seized 11 villages, including Shuyukh Tahtani and Shuyukh Fawqani, the last two villages in the western part of Kobanî Canton still held by ISIL.
  • April 2015: The Kurdish People's Defense Units (YPG) captured Ras al Ayn on 19 April.
