Establishment
- January 1094: The Sultanate of Dahlak was a small Medieval kingdom covering the Dahlak Archipelago and parts of the African Red Sea coast in what is now Eritrea. First attested in 1093.

1. Conquests of Suleiman I (Ottoman)
Conquests and wars with Ottoman involvement during the rule of Suleiman I.
- January 1558: The Sultanate of Dahlak was occupied by the Ottoman Empire, who made it part of the Habesh Eyalet.
2. Further events (Unrelated to Any War)
- January 1266: The Mamluks conquered the Red Sea areas of Suakin and the Dahlak Archipelago.
- January 1501: By the 15th century, the economy of the sultanate was not only in decline, but it was also forced to pay tribute to the emperors of Ethiopia.
- January 1514: By 1513 Dahlak had become a vassal of the Tahirids.
- January 1517: The sultans of Dahlak and the Tahirids were overthrown by the Mamluks of Egypt.
- January 1556: In the struggle for domination of the Red Sea the Portuguese ended up conquering Massawa (Maçua) and Arkiko in 1513.
