Was the territory of Morocco under direct French military control. In 1912 the Sultan of Morroco signed a protection treaty with France. The French forces slowly occupied the whole territory of Morocco in the period 1912-1919, therefore until 1919 there was a part of Morocco under military French rule (French Morocco) and a part still controlled bey the Sultanate but also under Protectorate (the Sultanate of Morocco). Morocco gained its independency from France in 1956.
