Was a kingdom corresponding roughly to the modern-day French region of the same name. Initially a vassal of the Franks, it is here considered independent since the the time of King Erispoe.

Establishment

January 754: Establishment of the Frankish protectorate over Brittany.

January 754: Frankish king Pepin the Short takes Vannes from the Bretons and organizes the first Marche de Bretagne.
