Is a country in Western Asia, located south to Iraq. In June 1961, Kuwait became independent with the end of the British protectorate and the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became Emir of Kuwait.

1. Gulf War
Was the military intervention by a United Nations-authorized coalition led by the U.S. in 1991 to free Kuwait from Iraqi forces that occupied the country since August 1990.
In August 1990 Iraq invaded and annexed the neighboring State of Kuwait. Iraq's subsequent refusal to withdraw from Kuwait led to a military intervention by UN forces (known as the First Gulf War).
During the First Gulf War, a coalition led by the United States liberated Kuwait from Iraqi military occupation.
