Was the territory of Morocco still controlled by the Sultanate but under French protection. In 1912 the Sultan of Morroco signed a protection treaty with France. The French forces slowly occupied the whole territory of Morocco in the period 1912-1919, therefore until 1919 there was a part of Morocco under military French rule (French Morocco) and a part still controlled bey the Sultanate but also under Protectorate (the Sutlanate of Morocco).

  • March 1912: The Treaty of Fez, signed by Sultan Abd al-Hafid of Morocco under duress and French diplomat Eugène Regnault, established the French protectorate in Morocco.
  • November 1912: With the Hispano-French Treaty signed on 27 November 1912, France recognized Spain's control over the territory of the northern zone of Morocco, thereby establishing the Spanish protectorate with its capital in Tetouan.
