Was an Afghan dynasty which ruled a large territory in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent for nearly 16 years after overthrowing the Mughal Empire in the region.
Establishment
May 1540: The Sur Empire (1540-1555), founded by Sher Shah Suri (reigned 1540-1545), briefly interrupted Mughal rule.

January 1541: Muhammad Khan ended the interrupting period of Delhi's rule and re-established the Bengal Sultanate.
January 1551: The Baise and Chaubisi Rajya (Nepali petty kingdom) existed since the early XVI Century.
January 1551: Sohawal State was founded in the mid sixteenth century by a ruler named Fateh Singh. It had been originally much larger, but lost much territory within the first centuries of its existence.
January 1551: During the reign of Raja Udai Sen, Suket came under the influence of the Sur Empire who were content with merely exacting tribute.
January 1551: From 1550 the Rajas of Tulsipur-Dang ruled the Dang and Deukhuri Valleys as well as territories around Tulsipur State south of the Siwaliks, now in India.
January 1551: Under Mughal rule, the city of Kasur flourished and was notable for commerce and trade.
Disestablishment
January 1556: Humayun's triumphant return from Persia in 1555 restored Mughal rule over the Sur Empire.
