Augustus III was King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania and Elector of Saxony at the same time in the period 1738-1764.

Summary


For a brief period in the mid-18th century, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth came under the rule of the Wettin dynasty of Saxony. Augustus II and his son Augustus III were elected as kings of Poland, but their reigns were marked by continued foreign interference and the further erosion of Polish sovereignty.
