Was the first Italian effort of the Kingdom of Italy to establish a protectorate over Albania. It was established during World War I in an effort to secure a de jure independent Albania under Italian control. Due to revolts by the Albanian population, Italy left the territory in 1920.

  • June 1917: On 3 June 1917, General Ferrero proclaimed the establishment of an Italian protectorate of Albania in Gjirokastra.
