A dynastic kingdom of Korea that lasted over 500 years. It succeeded the Kingdom of Goryeo. Joseon was a tributary of the Qing dynasty since the Qing invasion of Joseon in 1637 but the Qing dynasty did not exercise significant influence until the establishment of the China-Korea Treaty of 1882.
