January 70: At the same time as the Batavian revolt there was an invasion by the Sarmatian populations of the Roxolani (in 70). They crossed south of the Danube and, unexpectedly arriving with great violence on the neighboring Roman province of Moesia, exterminated a large number of the soldiers. Therefore they devastated the entire territory that opened before them, plundering wherever they went.
