Were a series of rebellions in Anatolia of irregular troops led by bandit chiefs and provincial officials known as celalî, celâli, or jelālī against the authority of the Ottoman Empire.

  • January 1519: The first revolt recognized as such occurred in 1519 was organized by provincial militias (celali) against the absolutist government of Constantinople.
  • January 1525: Baba Zünnun's uprising (1525).
  • January 1528: While Suleiman was campaigning in Hungary, disorganized bands marched on Ankara and Kırşehir.
  • January 1598: 1598-1605: From the 1550s, the increasingly harsh oppression of governors and the introduction of new taxes was accompanied by a series of increasingly frequent incidents.
