January 1088: The Rebellion of 1088 took place in England during the spring and summer of 1088. It was provoked by the desire of Anglo-Norman barons to unite under a single command the Duchy of Normandy and the Kingdom of England, which William the Conqueror had bequeathed, on his death in 1087, respectively to his sons Robert Courteheuse and Guillaume le Roux.
