January 1938: The Integralist Levante or Intentona Integralista was the result of an articulation carried out by the militia wing of the Brazilian Integralist Action (AIB) in movement against the Estado Novo. The event took place in Rio de Janeiro, on 11 of May of 1938 and was aimed at the overthrow of President of the Republic, Getúlio Vargas, in response to the Decree-Law No. 37 (which extinguished the political clubs across the country), and the subsequent closure of the AIB.
