  • January 821: By the early 8th century, before the unification of Norway, several chiefdoms/kingdoms existed in Norway and Sweden. People lived relatively scattered on farms but institutions that bound villages and regions together existed. King Alfarinn from Álfheimar was a known ruler of the petty Kingdom.
