  • January 1701: The Marathas, led by their ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji, expanded eastwards into Mughal lands, capturing Hyderabad in 1700.

  • January 1741: In 1740, migrants from the Lunda Kingdom, led by Chief Kazembe, settled in the Lake Moero and Lwapula Valley region. This territory later became part of the Kingdom of Kazembe.

  • January 1857: The Yeke Kingdom was founded by chief Msidi (also spelled M'Siri, Mziri, Msiri) who had immigrated from Unyamwezi (central Tanzania).
