Is a country in Central America. Formerly part of the Spanish Empire in the America, Hondurasa became initially independent from Spain as part of the First Mexican Empire and then as part of the Federal Republic of Central America. It separated from the latter in 1838.

Was a brief military conflict fought between El Salvador and Honduras in 1969.
July 1969: In 1969, during the Football War between El Salvador and Honduras, Colonel Méndez led a battalion to occupy the towns of Alianza, El Amatillo, Goascorán, Aramecina, and Caridad.
July 1969: Dubón's forces gave way, and by evening the Salvadorans had already penetrated about five miles into Honduras, occupying Ocotepeque and San Marcos in Ocotepeque Department, as well as Cololaca, Junigual, Guarita, Valladolid and La Virtud in Lempira Department.
July 1969: The Salvadorans secured control of Ocotepeque and the nearby towns of San Marcos and La Labor.
July 1969: Also on the southern front, the situation for El Salvador had changed diametrically. The Honduran counteroffensive pushed the enemy back beyond the El Amatillo frontier.
August 1969: On August 5, Salvadoran troops withdrew within their borders, ending the Football War.
January 1845: The Mosquito Kingdom was a British protectorate located on the Mosquito Coast, which is now part of present-day Nicaragua. Patrick Walker was appointed as consul-general to oversee British interests in the region, with his seat in Bluefields.
April 1859: At a convention held in Guatemala on April 30, 1859, the United Kingdom, under a great deal of pressure from the United States, agreed to surrender the Bay Islands to Honduras.
September 1896: In 1896, El Salvador, under the leadership of President Rafael Zaldívar, formed a short-lived union with Honduras and Nicaragua called the Greater Republic of Central America. This union aimed to strengthen the region's political and economic power but ultimately dissolved due to internal conflicts and power struggles.
November 1898: Honduras became a sovereign nation.
January 1961: In 1960, the northern part of the Mosquito Coast was granted to Honduras by the International Court of Justice.
