Establishment
January 1651: The Kingdom of Mpororo was founded in 1650 by King Ruhinda, who established his rule over Southwest Uganda, including Rukungiri and Kitwe. The kingdom played a significant role in the region's history and culture.

January 1753: The Kingdom of Mpororo split into six states.
January 1801: Establishment of the Kingdom of Kiga.
Disestablishment
January 1901: Uganda was made into a British protectorate at the end of the 19th century. Prior to this, the region was divided between several closely related kingdoms.
