Ptolemy Ceraunus was a son of Ptolemy I Soter. Originally the heir of the Ptolemaic Kingdom, he was displaced by his younger brother and fled to Lysimachus who reigned over Thrace and Macedon. Ptolemy managed to to overthrow Lysimachus and create its own kingdom.

1. Wars of the Diadochi
Were a series of conflicts that were fought between the generals of Alexander the Great, known as the Diadochi, over who would rule his empire following his death.
Was a war between Macedonian Generals that saw Lysimachus fight against Seleucus.
2. Gallic Invasion of Greece and Asia Minor
The Gauls invaded Macedonia and, after defeating and killing its King Ptolomeus Keraunos, took control of the region.
