    1. Events

  • January 751: The Sailendra dynasty, also known as the Shailendra dynasty, was a prominent Indonesian dynasty that ruled Java around 750. They were known for their patronage of Buddhism and the construction of impressive temples, such as Borobudur.

  • January 756: Between 742 and 755, the kingdom appears to have moved east to the Dieng Plateau, presumably in response to the growing influence of the Sailendra dynasty.

  • January 801: Dapunta Hyang Sri Jayanasa was a powerful ruler of the Srivijaya Empire, a maritime and commercial kingdom based on the island of Sumatra. His military campaign against Java in the late 7th century led to the expansion of Srivijaya's territory to most of the Java island, as the decline of Tarumanagara and Kalingga created an opportunity for conquest.

  • January 991: In 990, Bali was absorbed into the Medang Kingdom's mandala sphere of influence as a vassal.

  • Disestablishment

  • January 1007: Dharmawangsa of Medang is defeated by Srivijaya forces.
