January 1199 BC: From around 1200 BC, Phrygia was a kingdom in the west central part of Anatolia, in what is now Asian Turkey, centred on the Sangarios River.

Disestablishment
January 674 BC: The Phrygian Kingdom was then overwhelmed by Cimmerian invaders, and Gordium was sacked and destroyed. Excavations confirm a violent destruction of Gordium around 675 BC.
