Pragjyotisha was a kingdom that later came to be associated with the historical Kamarupa. It was located in Assam, India.

Establishment


  • January 1149 BC: Pragjyotisha was a mythological kingdom that later came to be associated with the historical Kamarupa. The first mentions of this kingdom are found in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. According ot the Ramayana, the kingdom was placed near Mount Varaha on the sea and was known as the Kosha-karanam-bhumi ("the country of cocoon rearers").
