Was one of the small political entities that existed in Norway around the 8th century.
Establishment
January 821: By the early 8th century, before the unification of Norway, several chiefdoms/kingdoms existed in Norway and Sweden. People lived relatively scattered on farms but institutions that bound villages and regions together existed. Harald Gullskjegg is the first known chieftain of Sogn (Sygnafylke).

Disestablishment
January 861: When Halfdan heard about his son's death, he travelled to Sogn and laid claim to the title of king. No resistance was offered, and Halfdan added Sogn to his realm.
