Was a sultanate centred in Tadjoura (Djibouti) that existed from the XVI century.
Establishment
January 1701: The Sultanate of Tadjourah was founded in the 15th century by Umar ibn Dunya according to Afar accounts. It was a powerful state in the Horn of Africa, controlling trade routes and coastal regions. In 1700, the territory of Tadjoura and surrounding regions fell under the rule of the Sultanate of Tadjoura.

1. Events
January 1822: Between 1821 and 1841, Muhammad Ali, Pasha of Egypt, came to control Yemen and the sahil, with Zeila included.
January 1828: In 1827, British explorer Captain William Grant Francis and Sultan of Raheita, Moussa Reyyan, signed a protection treaty in the northern coast of present-day Djibouti. This marked the beginning of British influence in the region, eventually leading to the establishment of British Somaliland.
January 1843: In 1842, Rochet d'Héricourt, a French naval officer, acquired the town of Tadjoura from the King of Shewa in the Gulf of Tadjoura. This acquisition marked the beginning of French influence in the region, eventually leading to the establishment of French Somaliland.
November 1869: The first Italian establishment in the area was the purchase of Assab by the Rubattino Shipping Company.
June 1884: The Sultanata of Tadjoura was proclaimed a French protectorate.
