Establishment


  • January 1286: Sultan Umar Walashma of the Walashma Dynasty established Ifat in 1285 with the conquest of the Shewa Sultanate.

  • January 1301: The Sultanate of Ifat conquered other areas of Shewa and Afar and the adjoining regions Fatajar, Dawaro, Bale and Adal were added.

  • January 1401: Ennarea became independent from the kingdom of Damot in the 14th century.

  • January 1416: The Adal Sultanate was founded by Sabr ad-Din II after the fall of the Sultanate of Ifat.
  • January 1416: Isaak (Yeshaq) of Ethiopia conquered and annexed the Sultanate of Ifat in 1415.
