Was a Muslim kingdom in present-day Ethiopia. Its founding dynastic family, the Makhzumis, is said to have consisted of Arab immigrants who arrived in Showa during the 9th century.
Establishment
January 897: The Makhzumis, who may have consisted of Arab immigrants, arrived in Showa during the 9th century. This ruling house governed the polity from AH 283/AD 896.

1. Events
January 901: Under the reign of Degna Djan, ruler of the Kingdom of Aksum in the 10th century, the empire continued its expansion southward and sent troops into the region of Kaffa, located in present-day Ethiopia.
January 1001: The Sultanate of Dawaro was a Somali Muslim Sultanate founded around the 10th century by the Jarso people sub-clan of the Dir clan centred in Hararghe.
January 1101: The Kingdom of Damot was a medieval kingdom in what is now Ethiopia, and ruled by Welayta people or Sidama people.
January 1201: The Sultanate of Arababni was a small Gurage Islamic sultanate located in what is now the Arsi Zone of Ethiopia. Founded around the 12th century, it was the smallest and weakest of the Muslim kingdoms described by the Islamic geographers al-Umari and al-Makrizi.
January 1251: Walayta state founded.
Disestablishment
January 1286: Sultan Umar Walashma of the Walashma Dynasty established Ifat in 1285 with the conquest of the Shewa Sultanate.
