  • January 401: Zaculeu was first occupied in the Early Classic Period (AD 250-600), and the buildings from this era show the architectural influence of the great metropolis of Teotihuacán in the Valley of Mexico.

  • January 1451: Zaculeu was a fortified city of the Mam Maya civilization. The K'iche' Kingdom of Q'umarkaj was ruled by the famous K'iche' king, Tecún Umán. The conquest of Zaculeu by the K'iche' Kingdom marked a significant expansion of their territory in the Postclassic period.
