Was a state of the Holy Roman Empire in Thuringia. It was one of the many Ernestine Duchies that divided and reunited several times and that were ruled by dukes of the Ernestine line of the House of Wettin.

Establishment

January 1681: Establishment of the Saxony-Roemhild Duchy.

1. Events

January 1684: Königsberg remained in the possession of the Saxon duchies for the next few centuries, namely by Saxe-Weimar until 1640, then followed by Saxe-Gotha until 1675, Saxe-Römhild until 1683 and then the Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

Disestablishment

January 1712: The Saxony-Roemhild Duchy is disestablished.
