January 1101: Tecklenburg County is mentioned for the first time in 1100.

1. Events
January 1181: Osnabrück fief of Tecklenburg.
January 1227: Establishment of the Osnabrück Prince-Bishopric.
January 1264: Bentheim Acquired Tecklenburg.
January 1280: Bentheim Partitioned into Tecklenburg and Bentheim.
June 1393: On June 18, 1393, the bishops and the cities of Münster and Osnabrück formed an alliance to besiege Cloppenburg, which was conquered in the same year.
January 1401: Tecklenburg County lost Cloppenburg, Friesoythe and Bevergern to Münster.
January 1494: The County of Lingen was split off from the County of Tecklenburg in 1493.
Disestablishment
January 1708: Tecklenburg County is sold to Prussia.
