Was one of the many free medieval communes (practically city-states) of Italy. It was located in Venetia.

Establishment

January 1168: The Carinthian control over Verona ended with the advent of the Lombard League in 1167.

1. Events

January 1201: Around the thirteenth century, the Municipality of Vicenza had over 200 villae under its control, almost all of the territory that today corresponds to the Province.

Disestablishment

January 1209: Azzo d'Este, after having defeated Salinguerra Torelli and Ezzelino II da Romano, becomes marquess of Ferrara and Verona. His charge is ratified by the Holy Roman Emperor Otto IV.
